Hey I saw your comment on Sinosplice. It's amazing you stumbled on me. Are you in Taiwan now? (I haven't read your blog yet). That's going to be my next assignment. I should get there sometime next summer. Am so looking forward to it.

Oh, my blog's only been up for a couple of weeks. There isn't much to read, yet.

If you make it out here, I'd be glad to buy you a drink and catch up! I read your book review of the Integrated Chinese texts on John's page, and I noticed you said you used to teach at CU. So naturally, I followed the link to your page, and there you were. Taiwan is where you first studied Chinese, right?

That's right, my man. Your analysis is
is on the money! Baidu?

**puts on his best Butthead face**
Uhhh..huhhuh, Buy-dude!

Yeah! Yeah! Buy, dude! Buy, dude! Heeh-he-ha-hur-he-hum! I am the great ...

Seriously, though, stocks like this are "over-valued" all the way up. If you look at MS in 1985, it was "over-valued". And it stayed that way all the way up. The same is true of Amazon, and Ebay. While I wouldn't have wanted to buy them at their speculative peaks 5 years ago, both were very expensive by traditional metrics for years after becoming profitable.

I had no idea that Baidu was drove as much traffic as it does. Right now with so many huge companies taking off in China, guys like you who can read the news in Chinese have a huge advantage over other growth investors.

Good point about Baidu.

I found this translation: "hundreds and thousands of times, for her I searched in chaos, suddenly, I turned by chance, to where the lights were waning, and there she stood."

Just what I hate about search engines. Searching for hours for some simple information. (The payoff for all the searching is never as good as good as in the poem.)
