		<description>At the very beginning, intensive study works well.  Going from a vocabulary of 50 words to 200 words, intense drilling and memorization are probably the way to go.  After getting to a low-intermediate level, I'd put more and more time into extensive reading.

My own students, which meet twice a week for two hour classes, study very intensively for the first year or so.  In the second year, though, they're reading about 30 pages a week, and most of it is easy material they can go through quickly.</description>
