Boxuan,

I tried hard not to be a "barbarian" to people who weren't barbarians to me first. I have to admit, though, I was desperate and I'm not proud of what I did to make it onto that train on-time.

"I wasn't going to tolerate their lack of civility... I dropped my shoulder and slammed him hard, sending him back and into the railing to the right."

Foreigners always say the Chinese aren't civilized, and yet you admit to being a barbarian yourself!

Jason and TC,

I've written about both topics in my journal, and I'll be copying both to my blog once I finish getting my chronologically-ordered entries up here.

I'm really enjoying reading about your trip. Keep up the good work. Have you discussed the Taiwan issue with many people over there? What are their impressions?

It sounds like you're loving Beijing! Thats great. It also sounds like you had a good time in Shanghai. What do you think of the two cities after spending some time there? I'd love do hear what your thoughts about some differences and similiarities. I've been in Shanghai for a couple of months, and have only ever been to Beijing for about a week, but I love the conversation.
