Protesters Outside my Door
October 11th, 2006 by MarkTonight, I decided to get a pre-run snack at Sogo. I headed out around 7:30, and stumbled into a sea of protesters wearing red shirts as soon as I stepped out the door. So, I ran back in and grabbed my camera and followed them towards their congregation point at Zhōngxiào Dūnhuà.
They were screaming support for Shī Míngdé and telling President Chén to step down. I’ve never seen crowds of protesters like this in my life. There was even a miniature economy that had sprung up to support the protesters. Street vendors appeared out of nowhere and started selling sausages, water, red shirts, and various other protesting supplies.
Look at that! I sure wouldn’t be seeing anything remotely like this if I were still living out in Guīshān.
I have some photos up on Zooomr.

When you say pre-run snack, is that our cue to hassle you about your diet? How’s the batty old 房东 (房東) by the way?

She’s alright. She’s vigilantly maintaining her post in front of the TV. Interestingly, she and the diet are somewhat related. Occasionally, she’ll have some food that she insists I eat. She just tried to force feed me some moon cakes a few days ago. What better “diet food” is there than that?

Move this to diet if you wish.
Mark you need one of the traditional horror story mooncakes of dubious mainland construction that supposedly lay people low with food poisoning every season. That would knock off the kilos quickly. I think it is tradional to run these tales in HK at least. I don’t know about Taiwan. In Australia the tradional food horror tale is about what really goes into a meat pie.

Sounds like a plan. Getting desyntery back when I lived in Guatemala sure did the trick.
