Red Bean Cookie

These are a common snack that can be found on street corners in just about any city. Commonly known as 紅豆餠, this snack can actually come in many other flavors besides red bean. The very top of the sign is written in Japanese and says 日式やきかし. This could be for the benefit of Japanese tourists, or it could simply be for marketing reasons. The kanji form of やきかし is 焼き菓子. Under that is the full name of the treat, 燒菓子奶鍋煎餠. To the best of my knowledge, nobody actually calls them by the full name. The flavors are listed to the right.
每個10元

| 地瓜 | 奶油 |

This particular stand was right outside exit #2 of the Shuānglián MRT station.

I think the Japanese might often serve nothing more than a decorative function, just as English often does.
