Mike Gravel on the Colbert Report

July 14th, 2007 by Mark

This is great. My favorite Democratic candidate in the primaries, Mike Gravel, made it to the Colbert Report, and absolutely pwned Colbert!

Colbert: Let’s face facts. You’re a little bit behind in the polls. As a matter of fact, The USA Today poll has you running neck-and-neck [at 1%] with Someone else.

Gravel: Yes, but I’m here and I’m going to get the Colbert Bump… if you can get me to double-digits, I would consider you as vice presidential material.

God, I think if I hear the word “pwned” one more time I’m goint to climb the bell tower and end this.

You World of Warcraft nuts are killing our language.

pwned, pwned, pwned, ….please record you jumping from the tower and post it on youtube, i’d love to see you kill yourself :)

The term “pwned” is NOT from WOW you noob!

He didn’t mean he’d jump from the bell tower. Read a bit more - he meant he’d be removing your likes from the tower with a rifle. ;) so watch your back. Besides, he was nowhere near pwning Colbert. He was mildly amusing and got the show - which is unusual for an old ex-senator. Plus, Colbert let him on the show to highlight him you numbnuts.

Dude seriously, “pwned?” I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a typo, in which case you should stop being satisfied with mediocrity and spell check your shit before you post! Ugh, I’m so tired of this.

Second, The Colbert Report is a satire show.

  8. 8 Kyle Says:

Wow. You managed to turn the comments on the Colbert Report with Mike Gravel into being about the word pwned. I have so much hope for this country.
Hopefully we see a Colbert Bump from this clip, Gravel is the only Democratic candidate that doesn’t scare the hell out of me.

Ron Paul / Mike Gravel ‘08!

James, it’s even worse than you think. I’m an EFL teacher, and I’m happily using such language.

Kyle, It’s good to see someone with a colorado.edu address posting. I’m a UCBoulder grad myself. My feelings about the election are very similar.

“Pwned” is a geek/gamer term. It originated from the term “Owned”, which was used whenever someone is defeated, or bested by someone else.

Example: “dude I just totally Pwned you with my rocket laucher” or
“dude did you see Mike Gravel on the Colber Report?” “yeah Colbert got pwned!”

And no, it did not come from World of Warcraft.

I guess you come from a place where everyone speaks absolute perfect english, if simple nerd slang pisses you off that much.
