I was also surprised at the turnout.

But anyways, it’s a start.

The next time, from the feedback that I got, we will try to meet on a Sunday night, so that we have more time.

And that doesn’t stop us from meeting in smaller groups in the weeks leading up to likemind, just like TC, Mark and I did the week before.

I can see what you meant Franc, the discussion was a bit disjointed at times.

Franc, I have a feeling that each one will have more people. That’s usually how these things work. Daniel and his friends not coming would knock the numbers down significantly, but the more people who know about it, the more will come.

Todd, it was good to meet you! I guess you can throw in any words you happen to come across that you want to learn. I always found it a bit hard to memorize all the necessary vocab each week at Shida, though. Book two usually has something like forty new characters per chapter. I was surprised you planned to spend two more years actually taking classes. It kind of made me regret stopping after just nine months.

Ever since checking out your flashcards I’ve been throwing in vocabulary in mine not found in my textbook to spice things up a bit… I needed to get the ball rolling…. thanks for the inspiration.

I think the thought behind Likemind is good, but I was a bit disappointed with it as it transpired. I was under the impression that it would be a smaller group, say no more than five. As it turned out, there was something like 12. Far too many for a good discussion about anything, and it just broke down into groups of 3-4 people sitting next to each other having separate conversations.

I’ll still try to go to the next one, and maybe now that I know what it will be like, I’ll have lower expectations and maybe enjoy myself more.
