This reminds me vaguely of the recent slashdot article that was comparing Obama to a Mac, and Hillary to a PC. Looking at Obama’s website, you can’t help but notice the elegant simplicity, very much like what a Mac has. Mac’s OS X is based on BSD, which I suspect Lessig would generally support. PC’s typically run Windows, although Linux distributions sneak in from time to time.
I like both of the democratic front runners, with a slight preference for Obama. My favorite choice, though, would be Hillary as president, and Obama as vice president. Hillary would run through her 8 years, then Obama would pick up another 4-8 after that.

My only issue with Hillary is that I think she’ll polarize the independent base into voting for McCain. Lessig has another ten minute thing on why he tends to think that Hillary as the Dem means McCain as the president.

Hillary definitely would lead to an intensification of the “culture wars” that have divided the country so badly the past decade and a half, but I have a much bigger problem with her. She not only voted for and spoke out in support for attacking Iraq, but she’s also shown a disturbing disdain for civil liberties. She was a vocal supporter of both Patriot Acts, she’s been pushing for a stronger executive ever since her husband was president, and she’s attacked Obama for wanting to end the “war” on drugs. We’ve already got more people locked up in prison (most of whom are non-violent offenders) than any other country, including Russia and China , police are routinely shooting family dogs in no-knock drug raids, hundreds have died from taser abuse, and war protesters are getting put on terrorist watch lists. It’s not the path I want to see our country take.
I can’t really vote for Clinton in good conscience, regardless of who she runs against. Obama, on the other hand, I could.

Those are all damn good points. I look forward to bringing them up in the future when people ask me why I’m anti-Hillary!

I started out watching the Lessig clip and somehow ended up here. Funny stuff.
