Toshuo Jobs
This is not a public job board. The only jobs I post on this page are those with people I personally know and can vouch for. Resumes can be sent to doubtingtoshuo@gmail.com.
Tomcat English
My old boss, William, is currently looking for an English teacher at his Tomcat school. I can say from personal experience that William is a good boss and a great guy. His school doesn’t have huge student numbers, so it doesn’t pay as much as some of the other HFRBs, but outside of class prep work and stress levels are also much lower. I think it’s pretty much an ideal job for somebody learning Chinese. My old co-worker Blake studied at Shida at the same time and made it all the way up through their level 7 classes and beyond. Later, he got a job with a magazine, and William helped him make the transition. My other co-worker, Barry, has been at Tomcat for ages and his Chinese is phenomenal. He’s finally moving on to other things, and if you take this position, you’d be taking Barry’s classes.

Shinmin Junior High School
My friend Patrick told me about this position. He’s a manager at the school, and it’s fairly unique in that there are quite a few students with high levels of English ability. The information below is copied from his ad.
Location: Taizhong
Compensation and Benefits
I would prefer not to get into the numbers of the contract at this stage. What I can say is that the salary is top notch, if one calculates all the perks, which includes:
* CNY paid holiday (usually 3 1/2 weeks)
* Summer paid holidays (usually 8 weeks)
* CNY bonus (considerably 1.5 times month’s salary
* Tax rebate (contract figures are post tax. Rebates can be surprising…)
* Opportunity for double time during July (you get your salary plus every hour you work summer school, if you want to stay)
Requirements
We require our teachers to have at least 2 years in Taiwan, and at least 2 years teaching experience in a junior or senior high. Although exceptions have been made to this rule, we try to stick to it as much as possible.
You must be prepared to come in for an interview and demo lesson on short notice. In other words, you should be in Taiwan already to apply.
