It was a close call. I nearly lost all of my blogging from my Colorado trip. Hostgator had another “technical issue”. This one involved wiping out everything on the server that hosts me, and then restoring a back up from January 20th. In other words, it wiped out my whole trip. By filling out a special for and agreeing to pay $15 (which they say I won’t be billed for), I got them to restore a backup from January the 30th. Still, I was missing quite a bit.

My salvation? It was Google. Fortunately my page gets crawled often enough that I was able to get pretty much everything except the comments from a Google search. The comments are all stored on my Gmail account, thanks to WordPress comment notification! I’ve still got to re-write a couple of odds and ends, but the site’s restored for the most part.
